The Locals Corner would like to thank the following...
6.1.2010 - Sundance DH race was awesome this year. Record turnout, new record fastest time, and tons of fun. For some pictures and info visit the Utah DH Series Facebook page
5.19.2010 - Congrats to Justin Alvey winning 30+ Cat 1 at the Nathrop MTB Nationals in Colorado
3.25.2010 - A little late on this one, but Mitch Ropelato (Utah Local) wins the St Patty's day race at Bootleg Canyon.
1 - Mitch Ropelato

3 - Logan Bingelli
So stoked for Mitch. This kid is amazing!
8.12.2009 - Congrats to Go-Ride's Addie Stewart. Third in Pro Women at the MSC "Blast the Mass" DH Race in Snowmass, CO.
8.3.2009 - If you have an ounce of American blood, you are pulling for this kid. Congrats to Mitch Ropelato on 2nd place at the Bromont World Cup 4X race.
Semi #2
and Finals...
7.30.2009 - WOW, what a busy summer. The Utah DH Race Series has been a blast! (if you like racing in the rain that is) If you haven't been, with only 3 races left, it's time to get out and give them a try. Pomerelle this weekend features 2 races, 2 days, 2 different courses. Lots of fun to be had at this small remote ski resort. Then Brian Head in August. Look forward to a rough, rowdy trail with plenty of rocks, roots and drops to challenge even the best of riders.
3.3.2009 - All you dirt jumpin fools out there, I-Street is currently dry and rideable. Unless we get some serious snow, it should be good to go from now on!
12.9.08 - Winter got you down? Don't let it - ride Dry Creek in the snow!!!
10.13.08 - Night Ride planned for Thursday the 16th. Glenwild is the plan so far, and we are estimating meeting at the school around 8:00pm. Give us a ring at the shop for more solid info if you are interested.
10.4.08 - Red Bull Rampage this weekend. Currently getting cooled off with a bit of rain. Hopefully it's nothing heavy so they can continue to ride. Check out video of the event at www.freecaster.tv
8.28.08 - Some overdue props go out to Galen Carter. He has been killing it this year in DH and DS all over the country. Winning the DH National Championships, winning the Deer Valley DH and DS, and ripping up the local series as well. Just locked up the SD points champ for the Utah Series. Congrats Galen on a great season!
8.25.08 - CURRENT RACE SERIES STANDINGS HAVE BEEN POSTED!
7.3.08 - THE LOCALS CORNER IS NOT DEAD!!! Ha ha...

3.24.08 - Well it's spring in Utah, and time to ride all the trails/jumps along the BST. This includes I-Street, where you could find a few of us yesterday...
Krispy 1 | 2 | 3 | 4
Doc 1 | 2 | 3
Matt J. 1 | 2
2.28.08 - Well, it's been a few days since I (Von) got back, but I've been busy catching up on e-mails. What I got back from was a trip to Rays Indoor MTB Park. Big thanks to Doc and Terry from SuperCo for letting me tag along in the Astro Van! I'm sure there isn't much need to go on about how awesome the park is, but yeah, it's awesome. Watch out for the waiter at the Holiday Inn though, scary. Watch out for a post of some pics and video here in the next little bit.
2.19.08 - BC race news! Go-Ride's Naish Ulmer takes the win in JrX Super D, and takes 2nd in the DH. 1st place JrX was the fastest time of the day, beating all the Pro's. Those youngsters know how to pin it. Krispy takes 7th in Pro Super D (would have one his expert class by a fair bit). Good times were had by most, Andrew and Clint had a rough go of it, hope you guys are feeling better.
2.11.08 - Two bits of riding news. #1 - Indoor BMX is a BLAST! If you have not been out there to ride, please for the love of fast, dry dirt, get yourself out there and give it a try. Visit http://www.radcanyonbmx.com/indoor.php for all the info. Just 1 more race this year, so get out there and get your butt kicked by little kids. Or if you prefer, you can get your style on over the optional finish line kicker.
#2 - Don't forget the Bootleg Canyon DH and Super D race this weekend. Weather forecast is calling for perfect conditions.
1.28.08 - So no trip down south, but that didn't keep me from riding Dry Creek. Taken at about midnight on Saturday night. Epic...
1.16.08 - AS OF TODAY THE VIRGIN TRIP IS BEING POSTPONED. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES.
12.13.07 - We are planning a riding trip to the Virgin UT the last weekend of January (26th & 27th). If you are interested in coming along, please contact us at the shop! Plans are shuttle runs on trails like Flying Monkey and Grafton Mesa as well as just playing around the Rampage area.
10.27.2007 - Images are BACK!!!! Wheeee!
10.22.07 - SORRY THAT THE IMAGE LINKS ARE NOT WORKING. MORE IMPORTANT STUFF HAPPENING AT THE MOMENT. BE PATIENT, SHOULD HAVE THEM BACK UP SOON.
10.12.07 - Just got a disc with some Wolf Mountain photos on it. If you attented the race and want a pic, we may have one of you. Here are a few that we liked...
10.1.07 - Well, it's October 1st, and it has snowed already. However, it's still biking season! The temperature is perfect, and the trails have some moisture in them. So get out and ride folks.
9.13.07 - Wolf Mountain will be
open this weekend, the 15th and 16th. Then the final day
of riding for the year will be the 22nd, they day of the racer
appreciation race.
9.4.07 - Racing at Sundance was a
good time. The Super D was a bit grueling for some.
The downhill track was in good shape, and even though there was
also some pedalling in it, it seemed well received. We got
an e-mail from a gentleman with a link to some pics, not up as
of today, but hopefully soon -
www.motofotos.net - check it out. In the meantime,
check out the style on
this guy. There was also a sighting of a guy riding
with
no hands, just his jersey arms flapping in the wind...
8.23.07 - A couple of our local
buddies including Damon K and Mani P made their way to Masters
Worlds in France a bit ago. Damon was unhappy with the
Citroen rental car and the way Mani was driving it. Mani
was unhappy with his shock leaking oil. I think they
probably both forgot all about that while riding.

Mani Racing
8.6.07 - Pomerelle was a great
time. Ben Craner wins Pro Men on the 1st day, with Naish
Ulmer (Jr. X) posting the fastest time. Day two looked
like Ben might repeat, but Steve Darcy come through 2nd run with
the fastest time. NVD was close 2nd, only a couple
hundredths behind. Weather was good, with a few random
showers. Other than some "slight" delays on day one, due
to a power outage, everything ran pretty smooth.
7.16.07 - Brian Head was a BLAST!!!
Weather was awesome, new trail was crazy hard, and so much fun.
Von ended up with 1st in pro, but Jordan Culp was once again the
story of the weekend. Six seconds faster than anyone else.
Full results should be up tomorrow.
7.10.07 - Man, has it been that
long since I put news up here? BH is this weekend, looks
like chance of afternoon showers every day, so bring your
Canadian Body Armor (also knows as a "hoodie") to stay warm on
the chairlift, and you may even consider a mud tire...See you
there.
6.20.07 - Another DV National is
done, and we are down even more riders. Carnage was the
story of the weekend.
We have been compiling a number of photos from various people of
various people, view them
-here-
6.4.07 - Another Bountiful race in
the books. If you were not there, you missed out on one
heck of a good time. Thanks to Ron and his crew for
getting everything running smoothly. Thanks to Wasatch
Shuttles for getting us to the top. Thanks to Pete for
finish line antics. Sean, hope you are doing alright.
Evan, congrats on the win!
6.2.07 - Bountiful race is
tomorrow. Should be good times. Pro/Semi-pro class
could be one of the biggest we have ever had at a local race.
Get up there, find Scott and ask him to blend you up something
cold!
5.26.07 - Update from Angel Fire.
Jr. X Naish Ulmer wins Super D, and Andrew P. is on his way to
the hospital to get his wrist x-rayed.
5.25.07 - Any DH'rs left in town
will probably be at Bountiful on Sunday. See you there.
5.21.07 - Moose was awesome as
usual. We cleared out one log that may have been knocked
into the trail by someone trying to get a good camera angle?
After the rain today it will be interesting to see how
much the foliage fills in.
5.18.07 - Anyone feeling Moosy?
Join us for a ride on Sat. We close at 4:00, so now you
know where and when.
5.14.07 - A little late on the ride
report, but what can you do? Moose is in good shape.
Pretty much zero downfall from the weak winter. Still
needs a couple rides on it to burn the line back in.
Shouldn't take long though.
5.9.07 - I hope you are ready for
this news. We are riding Moose on Thursday night. As
far as we know nobody has been up on it yet, so we are bringing
some tools in case some tree removal is necessary. We are
meeting at the bottom at 6:30. It's going to be pushing it
to be done before dark, so we would highly recommend a light.
Give us a ring if you can make it 801.474.0081 or e-mail
sales@go-ride.com
4.26.07 - Ride report...Mueller
Park is mostly dry all the way to the top. We had to hike
through 2 or 3 patches of snow, but it wasn't bad at all.
There was a bit of standing water in a few spots, but not any
sloppy mud. Really good shape. The dirt on that
trail is amazing. Just to clarify, as there was a bit of
confusion from the last post. Any time we say "tonight"
that means we are headed out on a night ride. You will
need a night light to come along, unless you are like Pete and
can use the Star Wars Jedi method. If you don't have a
light (insert shameless plug here) we have them in stock at
Go-Ride. Pick one up and come along with us.
4.25.07 - Last minute, once again.
We are going to ride Mueller Park in Bountiful tonight.
Anyone interested give us a ring at the shop.
4.21.07 - Sounds like most folks
will be heading to Bountiful this weekend. Both Saturday
and Sunday - see you there.
4.13.07 - Ride report...Joss and
Von headed out for the classic Dry Creek to Bobsled loop.
After a fairly uneventful ride Joss decides we should end with a
run down The Chute. After Von slowly but safely negotiated
it, Joss comes down with what appears to be too much speed.
Nearly to the bottom he just can't hang on anymore, as he pops
back up from the crash, he notices what we considered a boulder
heading straight for him. He manages to make an acrobatic
move and mostly leaps over it, leaving only a small scrape on his
leg. Later on we were informed that it was not a boulder
at all, but merely a large rock. Boy were we relieved.
4.12.07 - Friday Night Ride
planned. Weather Permitting. Ride location is still
up in the air. Interested? Give us a call 474.0081.
11.2.2009 - Krispy has been out of the office for a while, this is what he got... IMAGE
7.30.09 - My best attemp at a scrub/whip...
3.2.2009 - Back to regular hours...
Mon-Fri 10 - 7
Sat 10 - 4
Time change is next week - we will be riding in no time!!!
2.27.2009 - Long time friend and former Go-Ride team rider Matt Johnston is starting a new venture. MJ's Cannonbal Racing will offer coaching to youth riders in the SLC and Park City areas in the downhill riding/racing aspect of mountain biking. Matt has years of downhill racing experience, and with a test run last season teaching a handful of riders, this is sure to be a great program for youth dh riders in the area.
11.4.2008 - GO-RIDE IS SWITCHING TO WINTER HOURS!!!!
WE WILL NOW BE CLOSING AT 6:00 pm
MONDAY - FRIDAY!!!
11.3.08 - BIG BIG NEWS - Go-Ride is now a Giant Bicycle dealer. Bikes are available for in store purchase only (sorry, no online sales). We will have bikes available to demo for sure next spring, and if the weather stays warm possibly for this year. Models available for sale will be here in about a week!
11.3.08 - 2009 TURNER 5.SPOT FRAMES HAVE ARRIVED!!!
10.10.08 - New Go-Ride Hoodies in stock. Check them out -HERE-
10.9.08 - This taken from www.mikeaitken.com - a local BMX pro, and old friend of Von's...
10.06.08
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike, who was injured on Sunday while riding with friends in Pennsylvania. Mike is currently in critical condition in the ICU at St. Luke's hospital in Bethlehem, PA. His wife and parents have flown from Salt Lake City, UT to be by his side.
Mike was rushed to the hospital early Sunday afternoon after over-rotating a 360 and taking a severe blow to the head. Emergency staff immediately sedated Mike who was reportedly disoriented and convulsing, he has not regained consciousness since.
A ct scan revealed that there is currently no swelling of the brain, although there is an area that appears to have been injured by the fall. Further scans show breaks/fractures in Mike's orbital bone, cheek, both sides of his jaw, as well as throughout his sinus cavities.
Mike is currently on assisted breathing, but is breathing on his own for the most part. He has shown some voluntary movement in his left arm and leg. His right side is currently only responding to pain stimuli, but doctors say that this is fairly common for an injury of this type and are hopeful about his recovery.
He is not currently responding when spoken to or asked to move his hand. But again, doctors say that this is common for this type of injury and are hopeful.
Mike could wake at any moment, or his condition could remain unchanged for days or even weeks.
Mike is strong, and we pray that he will find the strength to fight through this. We will try to update as we learn more about Mike's condition.
Like many professional riders, Mike's BMX career makes health insurance companies consider him too high of a risk, and he is deemed "Uninsurable". Despite multiple attempts to obtain health insurance he is currently uninsured. The donations that have been offered and support that has been shown are greatly appreciated.
We all love Mikey, and hope for the best.
Never a good day when you hear about a fellow cyclist being injured. If you can, I'm sure his family would appreciate any help. There is a link on his site - www.mikeaitken.com to donate.
Thanks - Von
9.26.08 - Alright, the rest of the Interbike story...So you start the adventure on the hot, dry, dusty trails of Bootleg Canyon. You wait your turn, and grab a bike and post for a sweet picture...
Then take that totally sweet bike and climb up and down some hills and let your buddy take some sweet photos of you looking fast...
Rest, re-hydrate, and repeat...
Then find something strange, mutt like possibly...
Whew, 2 hard days. Time to clean up, dust off, and head inside to see the polished up blinged out offerings...
Alright, back on track. We are downhillers right, what did we come to see...
Whew, 4 days gone by already. Time to pack up and head home. See you next year...
9.23.08 - First Interbike report - the new dw-link Turner 5.Spot is FAST!
9.10.08 - Flip to flat - up next - flip to manual... (hopefully)
8.29.08 - Congrats to Scott and Faith. Proud new parents of a 8 1/2" lb baby boy!
7.3.08 - Sorry for the lack of updates folks. It's summer, and busy as could be at the shop.
4.18.08 - Not for the faint of stomach - get well soon CVD - photo
3.5.08 - Quick note for all you racer types. Maxxis has brought into the US the Highroller 26 x 2.35 Super Tacky tire in the DH casing. Yes, it's true. Possibly the best rear tire out there, available again in the 2.35 DH model. Yeah buddy.
2.15.08 - Finally got some time to get the Brian Head race footage up - here ya go!
2.13.08 - A quick trip to Ogio for a foam pit session on my new SuperCo. After you watch it, watch again and pay attention to my back wheel on the front flip, yeah, it hits the ceiling.
1.17.08 - I know we are a bit out of order on these, but here is the next installment in the UT DH Race Series Videos.
1.10.08 - Here is a new link to the FULL version of the movie- sorry for everyone who clicked on the Photobucket version, as it was about 2 minutes shorter than it should have been - so here it is, the full movie, in all it's glory...
1.10.08 - Just got a call from Doug D from C-Dale. He was shooting that same day at I-Street with Spomer. Here is a little gif I made of his photos of me and CVD doing a flip train. Pretty cool I suppose...
1.3.08 - Holy crap! 2008 already. It's winter time, and we need to keep ourselved busy so we are rearranging things at the shop to give us a bit more showroom area. Stop by and let us know what you think. We will have a couple more demo's closer to springtime. Also planning on having a few more complete bikes out on the showroom floor. More softgoods as well. Now you can spend even more of your lunch break here perusing all the cool stuff...
1.3.08 - Von is getting his new SuperCo soon...Who is excited?
11.9.07 - Our very own Von W. Made an appearance on Littermag. Check it out - LITTERMAG LINK
10.27.2007 - I've just been reminded that I forgot this most important news. Earlier this year our fearless leader Scott married his long time love Faith. Next time you see Faith, tell her you saw this news on here.
10.15.07 - We have been kicking around the idea of having a Go-Ride forum with tech articles, reviews etc. No banter about how sick Moose was yesterday, or how huge Mani can go at Whistler. We've set up a quickie free one to see if it's something people are interested in, and to see if we have time to participate/monitor it. So check it out, and let us know what you think.
10.12.07 - I know we've been talking about it forever, but we are making another push to get our new site up. Check it out here - New Go-Ride Site - Please e-mail sales@go-ride.com with any comments, questions, suggestions etc...
8.1.07 - Finally got it.
The pic that was the fraction of a second sooner that the
one Dave sent me.
Here I am, in all my glory!
7.10.07 - From our shop, it's
1058 miles to Whistler, and 58 miles to Wolf Mountain.
You choose.
6.22.07 - What happens when you
miss your time on the podium? You make up for it with
a
podium celebration of your own.
6.8.07 - Hey Von, how was the
Bountiful Race?
Dave either needs a quicker finger,
or a camera with no delay,
this pic is a fraction of a second late...still looking
good though.
6.2.07 - Now send those get well
wishes to Andrew. He is going back under the knife on
Monday to get all patched up.
5.19.07 - Many thanks to Mani for
being ever so welcoming at his pump track. Look for a
short pump track vid coming soon.
5.18.07 - Everyone send get well
wishes to Scotty.
5.18.07 - Just got an e-mail from
a friend with this link -
http://www.wolfmountaineden.com/events.html
Looks like there will be another
choice for lift served mountain biking this year.
4.13.07 - For anyone who lives in a hole, but for some
reason reads this, Bobsled rules. Go ride it. You can find it
-here-
4.11.07 - The team heads off to Sea Otter.
Riding in

4.5.07 - Cedric stopped by to buy some shoes and say
hi
-hi res- /
-low res-
3.28.07 - Sorry for not posting any updates lately.
Spring came early, and suddenly we are slammed with orders and repairs.
Good for business, bad for local news tomfoolery. So the Crest is covered
in snow still, you've ridden Bobsled 100 times, and you can't find a babysitter.
What do you do?
Here is what you do...
2.16.07 - Virgin, Utah is a pretty sweet place to ride.
Check out the -vid- of our weekend
trip.
1.4.07 - Von went for a solo mission on Bobsled last
night. A little soggy in spots, but overall pretty good. Good thing,
as it's dumping snow right now, and not much riding will be going on anytime
soon.
1.3.07 - Here is a new link to the
I-Street crash. The riders are Eric Porter, Crazy Brian, and Von.
1.2.07 - Happy New Year everybody. Hope you all had
a good holiday season. Now it's time to suffer (or rejoice) through the
heart of winter. We are still hoping to get night rides in when the
weather is cooperating. There was a session at I-street on New Years Eve.
I hesitate to say it was a good session, even though there was some sick riding
going on. If you were there you know what I'm talking about. I've
got a new video camera, and am hoping to be putting up some short vid clips here
that are a little easier to see than the ones from camera phones that I have
been posting. The race team took a trip to Boulder City for a
riding/training weekend with Gene Hamilton of www.betterride.net.
I've not been given a full report of the weekend, but I'm sure it was sick.
